FOUNDER'S STORY

REFRACTt was born out of a personal tension—of being shaped by many cultures but never fully fitting into one. I was born in India, moved to the UAE for high school, and later studied in the UK. 

Since childhood, I’ve travelled extensively—each place leaving its mark on me. This constant movement deepened my love for exploring cultures, stories, and traditions. I grew up around heirloom jewelry—gold bangles, silver anklets, intricate pieces that held generations of memory—but I could never wear them. They felt too delicate, too traditional, too distant from the way I lived.

So I started to imagine: what if I could take that heritage and remake it?

What if I could carry the sentiment and soul, but give it form in something wearable—light, plated, fluid, and modern?

As I kept traveling, I realized I wasn’t alone in that craving. Every city revealed artists doing exactly what I admired—fusing heritage with bold, modern design. I’d discover pieces in tucked-away studios, local markets, and indie labels with so much soul. And whenever I wore them, people would ask, “Where is that from?” “Can I find it here?” The answer was always no.

So I built REFRACTt to change that— A space where my own designs could live alongside global voices. A curated collective that brings together homegrown pulse and international perspective. REFRACTt is that space. A jewelry collective grounded in storytelling, shaped by contrast, and curated with intention. Where homegrown meets handpicked. Where sparkle means memory. Where boldness comes from blending worlds.

This brand is personal. It’s my contradiction, my curiosity, my cultural map. And it’s a tribute—to artists who challenge boundaries, to women who wear their truth, unapologetically and #REFRACTtTheOrdinary.
